Aztec Gods
The Aztec Gods were highly respected and prestigious over the ancient Aztecs as they believed that they controlled every aspect of their world. In their eyes they were the selfless yet strict controllers of their world, that in order to maintain their way of life, the Aztecs were required to make sacrifices, hold ceremonies in their honour and remain loyal to their rule or they would end the world. There were many different Aztec gods but the most notable and most praised were;
-Quetzalcoatl, the god of the Sun, Wind & Protector of all living beings. Quetzalcoatl was one of the most beloved and worshipped gods for his kindness they erected temples in his name.
-Tlaloc, the god of Rain and Water. He was one of the most frequently worshipped gods as many Aztec prayed for plentiful rain for their harvest.
Mictlantecihuatl the goddess over death was one of the few goddess's among many gods and one of the most feared among them all. Aztecs often prayed to her for a relative's happy after-life.
-Huitzilopochtli, the god of War, was one of the highly respected and powerful god as he controlled the Aztecs prosperity in battle. There were many services held in his honour before sending their men to battle.
-Tonacatecuhtli was referred to as the Lord of Fate as if he was pleased he would direct fate and luck towards your way.
-Chalchihuitlicue the god of the moon, he was necessary for the raising and lowering of the moon and was portrayed as a very grumpy god who would hold the moon longer into the day if he was not appeased even making an eternal night.

As the legend tells the world was destroyed three more times by wind and two floods. The Aztecs believed that they currently lived in the fifth world and sacrificing countless gifts to the gods would mantain the balance.
